I've kept with BT to have the security offered, capacity and 'why rock the boat when everything works' and so I was always pretty happy until this year. Sometimes the mail is arriving in inbox, but sending is just soul destroying and this is having a huge impact on my work. I have a several sub accounts - each with different passwords - and after re-setting p/ws AGAIN - I can access my main account and one sub.

Like other comments I can sign in through web and actually, most of the time can download and send mail on my iPhone, but that's getting more problematic too. I was BtYahooMail initially and had no real problems setting up internet accounts into Mail on laptop or phone once finding out about the precise setting up for incoming and outgoing mail. A year which has become incredibly frustrating. I've had BT for well over a decade, and Macs for at least a decade with no problems until this year. I've read a lot of threads about this, and tried many suggestions, nothing works.

I've reached the point that if BT can't deal with Mac products I should just move to provider that can. These MAC/ BT incompatibility issues have been going on for the 7 years i've had BT. I'm meant to have high-speed fibre but that's a joke, streaming is painful. I'm so tired of BT's lack of understanding with this that when my contract is up this April I think this time i'm really going to try another provider. Now I've had over a week of broadband misery. Well everything worked fine until i had to reset my BT ID password, which lead to having to reset the router. The pat response from BT seems to be it's an Apple problem not ours. I got off the phone and after a half-hearted effort from him i was back watching the paint dry. I had one of the BT Tech guys, (who told me they normally charge 10 pounds a month for tech device help.) try to help me.

It'll work for a few minutes and then i'm back to square one. I've called bt about six times this week, the odd person just suggests i redo all the steps i've already taken. Sending an email from my bt account on my Macmail takes about 5 minutes even if the contents is only word "test." My other non bt accounts won't send emails at all. That seems to have excaberated my wifi/ sending email dilemna. Last week I spoke to BT and due to slowness of Wifi they had me reset my SmartHub to factory default settings.

I'm a Macbook Pro user and I have long had issues with having to split the frequencies on wireless so that I have an SSID for 2.4Ghz and an SSID for 5Ghz and I separate the bands. Since then it's been a downhill ride that's left me with an internet connection that is so slow, watching paint dry would be faster.

You have to tap on that Primary Server in order to find where the Outgoing password is hidden so you can update it.Ībout 2 weeks ago I logged into my BT account and i was informed I had to change my BTID to match my BT password ID. If you tap on the outgoing mail server it will show that it is 'on'. You will find the details for the account and can change the password for the Incoming Mail Server there, but the outgoing mail server only shows SMTP and To change the outgoing mail password you have to go into Settings then scroll down to Mail, Contacts, Calendars.įrom there select the BT account and select the account where it is listed under IMAP.

Wait at least 30 minutes before starting one of your devices and set up the email account with the new password.Ĭheck that this device s working before moving onto the next device.Įnsure that you are using the correct settings via this link and set the email accounts up manually rather than using the email wizard.Īnother thing to check is that when you change your BT password on an iPad/iPhone it may only change for Incoming mail. You can do this by either deleting the email account from the device or just change the email address in your email account settings.Ĭhange your webmail email password yet again.

Switch off all your devices or at the least stop them from polling your email account for new email. The problem usually resolves its self in a day or two.īecause you have deleted and reset up your email on your devices and changed your password I would suggest that you do the following:

The advice from forum users is to do nothing such as changing passwords or deleting and resetting up accounts as this invariably causes more problems than it solves.īecause your devices stopped accessing your email at the same time and you were still able to access your email via webmail it is obviously not a problem with your email account or with your password, hence the advice not to do anything. This however generally applied to BTYahoo email rather than BTMail. There have been problems with the BT IMAP/POP servers stopping email clients from accessing the users email account for years.
